The Jewelry Box autobiography – a book recounting the building's entire creation process
It took five years. From the fax received on November 17th, 2004 announcing that ELEMENT had won the Teacher’s House competition, to the Jewelry Box grand opening on August 19th, 2009. The process was extensive, educational, and at times quite frustrating. Creating quality, long-lasting architecture requires a lot, but the most important aspect of all might be perseverance. The client’s ambition and respect for competence, alongside ELEMENT's participation in the strategic committee meetings, were key components in making the Jewelry Box a pleasant space to be in.
The book contains a complete set of all illustrations, details and graphics in addition to photos, sketches and correspondence. You will also find Boris Brormann Jensen's impassioned essay The Frankenstein Complex , which criticizes a general academic reluctance to take on the architect's encounter with pragmatic reality.
