D6
Meticulous densification in beautiful brick
D6 consists of three small buildings with a total of eight apartments, located in a pleasant residential area of the Slemdal neighborhood. Each unit has a separate entrance, 2,7 meter ceilings and ample daylight coming in from all four directions. The project gained a lot of living space thanks to the size of the property, and it carefully blends in and adapts to its environment. The buildings are placed alongside the edge of the plot, secluded from the road and around the corner from a westward-facing garden. The housing units have been adjusted to match the sloping terrain and the single-family home characteristics that define the neighborhood, by being divided into houses of varying heights.
The idea is simple: the buildings are more closed-off in the back, but open up towards the garden. Each unit receives daylight from all directions, and several lines of sight throughout the apartments offer spacious views of the outdoors while one moves from room to room. The construction was built with reddish-brown brick which in some places varies in joining, creating a playful shadow/light effect.
