Kistefos - Pipilotti Rist
Video bathe me softly
ELEMENT has assisted the curator and artist in realizing the exhibition (y)our lungs sound in an infinite forest, - a multi-channel video installation by the renowned artist Pipilotti Rist.
The exhibition in Nybruket gallery at Kistefos museum consists of a corner projection, where you are invited to take off your shoes before entering and lay or sit on a cushion on the large carpet in front of the screens. The visitor is thus surrounded by both video and sound, and steps into the work. The video installation is separated from the entrance and the learning area by translucent drapery. Carpet, drapes and cushions soften the room, and underpin Pipilotti Rist's magical and playful universe. The textiles in cold color tones from green to violet (In the shade of a tree), both contrast and highlight the vivid colors in the video work.
Rist is a pioneer in video and installation art, where the viewer is immersed in the work. Through investigative editing and digital manipulation of slow-motion videos of nature and people, she explores the privileged position humans are born into.
